Sports have heavily impacted my life, my attitude, and my health. I went from being overweight to athletic, and from being underconfident to investing all my time into this passion that helped me find who I am today. I have played almost every sport you can think of, ranging from skiing to football, and still play them to this day. However, my main sport is golf, as I compete nationally. Golf in addition to all the other sports I play has taught me many qualities and skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The sad part is that not everyone has access to the same trainers, coaches, and equipment that I had during my journey. I have experienced firsthand how sports can change someone’s life, and it breaks my heart that not everyone has the same support that myself and many of my peers have. The goal of Sports for Support is to make equipment, sports, and assistance available to as many people possible, and to hopefully help them find motivation and learn the lifelong lessons that come with playing a sport.
Sports mean a lot to me. Growing up I played soccer and tennis- I played soccer for about 8 years and tennis for about 2 years. Although I don’t play these sports anymore, I have made so many friends through these sports. In fact, I even met one of my closest friends through soccer. Playing sports has also taught me some valuable lessons like teamwork and respecting others. Sports are a super fun way to relax and let off some steam. Playing a sport doesn’t mean you have to play on a team, as I like to play sports even though im not a part of one. I also like to go on runs, play volleyball with my friends, or play soccer with my friends.
I have been in sports since I can remember. When I was little my parents were insistent on me playing sports, which I am so grateful for. I was given the ability to discover my passion for dancing and taekwondo. Even though martial arts and dance seem like polar opposites, they have both created two separate families from my own that I can rely on. They have taught me the importance of perseverance, courage, determination and how to not be so hard on myself. I am so very grateful for their continuous support, and it is my pleasure to support them in every step of their athletic journeys. Bonding with people for sharing the same passion in a sport is so powerful, and I hope that everyone gets the chance to find their second family.
